Dorothy Ann Degner

Dorothy Ann Degner, 89, Garden Prairie, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Alden Debes Health Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bonesteel, SD, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Hlousek) Dummer. Dorothy married Elwyn Degner on March 7, 1953, and he passed away on October 21, 2011. She was employed as a cable maker for GTE in Genoa for 34 years until her retirement. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge #295. She enjoyed working in her garden, reading, doing crossword puzzles and loved all types of wildlife.

Survived by her children, Dan (Gale) Degner of Rockford, Connie Degner of Ft. Worth, TX and Ron Degner of Rockford; her sister, Darlene Streit of Belvidere; her brothers, Wade (Sandra) Dummer of Woodland Park, Co and Mike (Patty) Dummer of Divide, CO; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Elwyn; 2 brothers, Wayne and Robert “Bob” Dummer and her brother-in-law, Don Streit.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 217 E. Hurlbut Av. Belvidere, Il with Fr. Randy Wakitsch officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories.
