Dorothy A. Lewis, 90

Dorothy A. (Gaubas) Lewis died peacefully at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 in

Presense Cor Mariae Center. Dorothy was born November 12, 1925 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Agnes Gaubas. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School in 1944 and married William B. Lewis Sr. on March 31, 1951 in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for more than 40 years and was past president of Holy Family’s Women’s Guild. She was the administrator of Bill Lewis Builders and the Valley Inn Motel. She was a 50-year member of Sandy Hollow’s Wednesday morning 18-hole golf association. Dorothy was also a member of Vi Dent’s penny ante poker club.

She raised five children including Nancy (Larry) Schultz, Ken (Meg) Lewis, William (Karen) Lewis Jr., Barbara (Brian) Degnan and David (Victoria) Lewis.

Besides her children, Dorothy was survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was also survived by sisters in law Carol (Leo) Pirrello, Beverly Wolchek, Patty Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wild Bill, her parents Stanley and Agnes Gaubas and her three brothers and three sisters.

She was a friend to all and will be missed.
