Doris M. Schmidt

Doris M. Schmidt, 85, of Rockford passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born July 30, 1930, in Krem, North Dakota, the daughter of Emmanuel & Leontina (Kilber) Suess. She married Melvin Schmidt on October 17, 1948 in Stanton, North Dakota. She worked as a secretary at H and R Block for many years. Doris was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
Survived by her children, Mark Schmidt, Dawn (Tim) Arndt and Deanna (Richard) Asplund; grandchildren, Tammy Schmidt, Joey Schmidt, Kyle (Karen) Grant, Erich (Lauren) Cain, Emily Cain, Melissa (John) Brennan, Alec Asplund and Teddy Asplund; great-grandchildren, Brennan Grant, Nathan Schmidt and Zander Wolf; siblings, LeJames Suess, Iver Suess, Franne Suess, Marian Miller and Hermelle Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Melvin, son, Myles Schmidt, daughter-in-law, Kay Schmidt, sisters, Fern Meagan and Meta Langman, brothers, Roland Suess and Roger Suess.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 North Rockton Avenue. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. Private family burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery at a later date.
