Doris M. Carlini, 96, Rockford, died peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in Alpine Fireside Health Center. Born July 31, 1926 in Monroe, WI, daughter of Alfred R. and Elizabeth A. Scott Sager. Graduated from East High School in 1944. She met the handsome Lawrence Carlini, the love of her life, when he was a bellhop at the Faust Hotel. They were married on March 3, 1945 and he soon joined the Army Air Corps where the two of them spent a couple of years living the military life before settling back in Rockford. She worked in several dress shops in DeKalb and from 1960-65 worked at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club. Doris loved to dance, take walks, travel and read. She was very social and had a genuine interest in people. She was a member of Catholic Women’s League, and when her health allowed, was part of the sewing guild. She always enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks play. Doris was completely devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always proud of them and loved them unconditionally.
Survivors include her daughter, Patti (Kris) Tumilowicz; grandchildren, Nick (Madigan) Tumilowicz, Larry (Joy) Sanders, Kelly (Ryan) DeBari, Michael (Clare) Tumilowicz and Danielle (Drake) Grindle; great-grandchildren, Luna, Nolan, Oliver, Atlas, Drew, Evelyn, Skyler, Kora and Delilah; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, husband Lawrence on June 28, 2002, daughter, Carole Sanders and brothers, Lloyd Scott, Donald Scott, Lee Sager and Ralph Sager.
The family would like to give a special thanks to OSF Hospice and Alpine Fireside Health Center for the loving care extended to Doris.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 in the Cathedral of St. Peter. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Friday.
