Doris M. Bliven

Doris M. Bliven, 91, of Rockford, peacefully took her final ride on July 15, 2018. Born April 9, 1927 in Quincy, IL; she was the daughter of Paul R. and Selma (Strate) Edwards. She married Kenneth F. Bliven on May 3, 1947 in Quincy.
A member of Third Presbyterian Church, Rockford; Doris retired from Rockford Memorial Hospital after 28 years of employment.
Doris was an avid horseback rider who enjoyed playing cards, games, reading, taking care of her Chihuahua and spending time with her family.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Steve (Nancy), Jeff (Rita), Terry (Kathy) Bliven and Kathy (Phil) Rettig; grandchildren, Tara (Tim) Sisneros, Marc (Anne) Bliven, Traci (Brandon) Grabski, Erin (Darren) Habermehl, Kelli (Nick Butler) Bliven, Grant Smith and Andy (Shelly) Rettig and Susie Rettig; great-grandchildren, Kinsale, Callan, Ariana, Emery, Ella, Quinn, MacKenzie, Genevieve and Peter; brother, Paul Edwards Jr.; sister, Carol Morrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, William Edwards.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford. Visitation from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
