Doris Lundin

Doris Louise (Thompson) Lundin, 94, of Rockford, died July 26, 2015 at Wesley Willows. Born Feb. 21, 1921 in Rockford, the daughter of Earl and Hazel Thompson. She was a graduate of Rockford Central High School and attended Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, Virginia. Married her loving husband John Lundin on Feb. 21, 1942 and together had 3 beautiful children. Doris joined the River Bluff Auxiliary in 1961. Her volunteer hours well exceeded the recorded number of 14,497 as records were not kept until 1991. She was the recipient of the diamond pin for volunteering more than 10,000 hours. Doris committed several days each week to helping others at River Bluff and was still volunteering into her 80’s. Her commitment to serve others reflects her compassion and caring she had for all people. As a result of her efforts, Doris was recognized with the Point of Light award. Perhaps her greatest achievement was lovingly, raising a family. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a terrific partner to her husband as he built a business during their 60 years of marriage. Your sons love you very much and will miss you. You were a gift. Your family will always have a part of you in their hearts. Rest in peace.
She is survived her sons, Roger (Sharon) Lundin of Savannah, GA, Jerry (Susie) Lundin of Glasgow, KY; grandchildren, Kristen (Bill) Rogers of Huntersville, NC, Christopher (Shawna) Lundin of Simpsonville, KY; Erik (Emalee) Lundin of Louisville, KY; great grandchildren, Brennen and Braeden Rogers, Zachary and Matthew Lundin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Nancy Jo Lundin.
