Doris L. (Clayton) Froning, 86, Rockton died December 28, 2015 at Highview in the Woodlands in Rockton. Born June 4, 1929 in Janesville, WI. to Frank and Hazel Wonder, she moved to Rockford in childhood and remained in the Rockford area until her death. Married Ed Froning on December 8, 2007 and was fondly received into his family. Doris worked at J.I. Case until the Rockford plant closed in 1970 then worked at Meridian Implement. Later Doris was employed by Twin Disc until her retirement in 1992. Doris enjoyed home arts including collecting recipes, needle work, quilting and crocheting. She has gifted many treasured pieces to family.
Survivors include husband Ed; son, Rod (Clarice) Drummond; grandchildren, Joshua (Kristi) Drummond and Nathan Drummond; great grandchildren, Sophie and Brooks Drummond, sister-in-law Thelma Wonder and several nieces and a nephew. Predeceased by husband Robert Clayton in 2003, her brother Frank in 2013 and mother Hazel Wonder in 2014.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 2, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL with Father Steven M. Sabo officiating. Burial in Owen Center Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday. Memorials to St. Peter Catholic Church.
