Doris Jean White, 85, Cherry Valley, Died Thursday, November 8, 2007, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1922, in Boscobel, WI., the daughter of David and Maud Ware McCord. She is a graduate of Boscobel High School. Doris married Robert White in 1940. He died July 4, 1986. Doris was a resident of Cherry Valley for more than 60 years. She has been a member of Cherry Valley United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a member of the Willing Workers Church Circle. Doris was the former Cherry Valley Village Clerk, a Township Election Judge and past Cherry Valley ""Citizen of the Year"" . She served on the Cherry Valley Cemetery Association and was a charter booster of the Phantom Regiment for many years. Doris traveled throughout the United States to support them in competition. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the Bears play. She was formerly employed by Fishers Appliance and TV. She is survived by her sons, David (Loretta), Douglas, D. Michael (Pam) and Donn White; daughters, Diane (Bobby) Turley, Dona (John) Decker and Doreen (Lial) McCullough; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; sister, Arlene (Mickey) Jungbluth. Preceded by her parents and a sister, Marilyn. Special thanks to David and Barb Anderson for being caring and helpful neighbors to Doris. Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, November 13, 2007, in Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 112 S. Cherry St. Cherry Valley, IL. Burial in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Visitation from 10AM until time of service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the church in Doris name.
