Doris B. Fransen

Doris B. Fransen, 94, Rockford – Doris B. Fransen passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4th, 2021. Born Jan 9, 1927, in Chappell, Nebraska to Sylvia and Anton Johnson. She attended Luther College, Wahoo, Nebraska where she met her husband, N. Gunnar Fransen. Doris and ‘Gunny’ were married on October 15, 1947 in Chappell, Nebraska. Doris worked at East High School until she became a stay-at-home mom and a volunteer manager at the Swedish American Hospital Gift Shop. Doris was a polio survivor who was active in golf and bowling leagues into her 80’s. She worked on the Alter and Wedding Guilds at Alpine Lutheran Church for many years. After her husband’s retirement, they were co-owners of the Wood Merchant Gift and Furniture store. She remained sharp and witty until a few days of her passing. Preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her son, Steven (Jean) Fransen; daughter Joni (David) Omlor; Grandchildren Patricia (Jason) Meyer, Joseph Fransen (Bill Roberts), David (Angela) Fransen, and Steven (Holly) Omlor; great-grandchildren, Emma and Tyler Meyer, Timothy Roberts, Dylan and Max Fransen, and Cody and Landon Omlor. A short service will take place at 11 AM, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S Mulford Rd.
