Doris A. Peterson

Doris Alice Peterson, 90, Rockford, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, in her home. She was born June 25, 1927, in Belvidere, the daughter of Gilbert and Estelle (Whitney) Blake. She was a graduate of Belvidere High School. Doris married La Verne L. Peterson in Rockford on November 19, 1948. He passed away in Rockford on April 6, 2011. Doris was a waitress at the Oak View truck stop in Cherry Valley for 32 years retiring in 2005. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Doris was a member of the SM & SF Club and the VFW in Belvidere. She enjoyed bowling and spending her winters in Texas.
Survived by her daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Williams of Rockford; her granddaughter, Rachele (Shawn) Edwards; her grandson, Ryan (Katherine) Dunn; her great grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyler, Jaykob, and Aubrey; her sister, Darlene Johns of Belvidere; her brother, David (Muriel) Blake of Roscoe; and her special sister-in-law, Donna Blake of Belvidere. Predeceased by her husband, La Verne, her parents, and 5 brothers, Derwood, Donald, Dale, Darwin, and Darrell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday. August 8, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4620 20th St. Rockford, with Reverend Joanne Adrian officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 7, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
