Dorice E. Finch, 82, lifelong Rockford resident, died at 3:11 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2008 in the comfort of the home of her daughter and son-in-law.nbsp; Born December 26, 1925, daughter of Walter and Edith Molander Carey.nbsp; Graduate of East High School.nbsp; Married Charles E. Finch, Jr. on June 27, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL. Long time, very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Priscilla Circle, served on the Church Council, was a member of the Altar Guild, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and participated in many other aspects of the church. She had a deep and abiding faith. Dorice was a very creative and talented woman.nbsp; She loved music, played the piano and sang beautifully.nbsp; She was a wonderful seamstress and cook and also did rose mahling.nbsp; She grew exquisite roses in her garden and received much enjoyment from time spent at the family condo in Door County.nbsp; She was a deeply beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was completely devoted to her family.nbsp; The greatest gift to her family was the total devotion that she and her husband showed to each other. nbsp; Survivors include her daughters, Nancy (Timothy) Burns, La Crosse, WI., Patricia (Jerry) Fox, Rockford and Martha (Joseph) Monastero, Lincolnwood; grandchildren, Carey Burns, Patrick (Amy) Burns, Christopher (Gisele) Fox, Elizabeth (Rick) Broughton, Rebecca (Kerry) Lilly, Joseph, Maria and Elena Monastero. Also survived by her great-grandchildren, Kayla Burns, Paige and Zachary Burns, Alexander and Gabriella Fox, Zachary and Jordan Broughton, Tristan Lilly and her sister-in-law, Vivian Carey.nbsp; Predeceased by her husband on September 15, 1998, her parents and her brother, Norman Carey. A special thank you is given to Garnet Johnson for the many years of devoted friendship that she gave to Dorice.
Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Kathryn Whitney officiating.nbsp; Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Saturday.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.nbsp; Arrangements were made by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
