Donna R. Blomquist-Boothe

Donna R. Blomquist-Boothe, 67, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born November 29, 1950, the daughter of Inez and Harry L. Davis and spent her early years growing up in Rockford, graduating from East High School, class of 1968. Donna married her best friend, Walt Boothe, and together they spent the last number of years traveling to the state of Oregon, South Padre Island, Texas and Martha’s Vineyard and most notably with family at their cabin in Wisconsin. She worked most of her professional life in banking and manufacturing. Above all else, Donna loved the time she spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Donna bravely fought a 12 year battle with cancer, embracing life despite her many struggles and remained positive throughout. She had a magnetic personality and immediately became a friend to anyone she met. Her caring nature and positive outlook was an inspiration to many others, particularly those battling the same chronic illness. She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support, including countless friends, especially those within her cancer support network, extended family and church community.
Survived by her loving husband, Walt; children, Dan (Anthony Ponte) McNames and Kyle (Annie) Blomquist; grandchildren, Emma, Alice, Paul, Tommy and Ellee; brothers, Raymond (Darlene) Davis and Curtis (Donna) Davis. Predeceased by her parents; son, Brian Blomquist; sisters, Marla McWilliams and Janice Brustad.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. An additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 425 Riverside Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family or to a charity of your choice in Donna’s name.
