Donald Nathan Lawson

Donald Nathan Lawson, 82 a lifelong resident of Rockford, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 in his daughters home. Born Feb. 26, 1927, son of Nathan and Fern (Griswold) Lawson. Married his loving wife, Gloria Hudson, on June 10, 1949 in Rockford. He worked for his father at N. Lawson and Sons North America Van Lines, which became Bekin Van Lines and retired in 1988 as owner. A member of the Tebala Shrine, Masonic Blue Lodge 166 and Hi-12 Club. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gloria Lawson; daughters, Lynne (Kris) Jones of Rockford and Gwen Hammer of Antelope, CA; grandchildren, Eric, Adam and Tracy Jones, Nathan Lawson and Nichole, several great grandchildren; brother, Paul Lawson of Rockford and his faithful K9 companion Duke. Preceded in death by his parents; son, James N. Lawson; brother, Emmett Lawson and sister, Eloise Lawson.

Funeral service Wed. November 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Pastor Kathy Whitney of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd officiating.
