Donald J. Pflipsen

Donald J. Pflipsen, 77, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Maple Crest Care Centre. Born October 16, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Herman J. and Corda H. (Barrett) Pflipsen. Don was a veteran serving in the United States Navy. Don married Karen McKay in 1963 in Minneapolis; they were happily married for 55 years. Don worked for Longview Fibre for many years, retiring in 1995. In retirement he worked for Cord Construction. Don was an active member of St. Bridget and enjoyed singing with the choir many years. Don was a member of the Rock River Recumbent Riders Bicycle Club and volunteered with North Park Fire. Don was much loved and touched many lives.
Survived by his wife, Karen; son, Kenneth (Lisa) Pflipsen; grandchildren, Virginia, Jessica, Benjamin, Rebecca, Hellete and Paula; great-granddaughter, Violet and daughter-in-law, Kathy Pflipsen. Predeceased by his parents, son, James and sister, Gloria Heinen and Jowan Luce.
Memorial mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Bridget Choir. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, assisted the family.
