Donald F. Johnson, 75, of Rockford died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 3, 1936, in Barron, Wis., son of Edward and Kathryn Johnson. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Don was stationed in Japan. After returning home, he married his loving wife, Jean Sciortino. Worked for several years in the sales department for Sears. Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing billiards and gardening. He was the no. 1 fan of all the sports his grandchildren were involved in. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to OSF Hospice Home care for all their support. Survivors include wife, Jean; son, Donald R. (Lee) Johnson and their children, Brandon and Jamie; daughter, Kathryn A. (Perry) Rhodes and their children, Allen and Daniel; sisters, Verna (Lawrence) Krizenski, Karen (Jay) Lamb, Eileen (Elmer) Dahlberg and Margie Sockness; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents; and brothers, Robert Johnson and Alan Mickelson. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road.
