Donald E. Wedgbury MD of Rockford passed away on December 27, 2013. Board certified in diagnostic, cardiovascular, and interventional radiology; retired from Radiology Consultants of Rockford. Son of Russell and Hilda (Orgler Wedgbury) both now deceased. Born on June 11, 1941 in Chicago. Married Jean (Battistelli) on April 30, 1966. Survivors include wife Jean and children: Dave (Paula) Wedgbury of Rockford, Doug Wedgbury of Florida, Tom Wedgbury of Rockford and Kevin Wedgbury of Jamaica W.I. Grandchildren: Gianna and Roman Wedgbury of Rockford. Also survived by brother Rick (Vicki) Wedgbury of Chicago; and sisters Jeanine (Rich) Elgeness of Norridge, IL, Diane (Chuck) Knudtson of Huntley, IL and Rita (Dr. Richard) Luetkemeyer of Washington, IL., as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dr. Wedgbury (also known as "Doc" or "Wedge" to friends, colleagues, and those he helped mentor) was a graduate of St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, Chicago. Following internship at Rockford Memorial, and two years of service in the Air Force, completed three year radiology residency at Rush Presbyterian, Chicago. Upon completion of residency, joined staff of Swedish American Hospital. Holy Family Parish has been spiritual home since move to Rockford.

Avid hunter, member of Senachwine Club in Putnam, IL - also serving on its Board. Member of the Max McGraw wildlife foundation. Founded Rockford United Soccer Club (RUSC) with a small group of committed parents. In 1995 opened Indoor Sports Center (ISC) in Loves Park, IL. Brought first professional men's' outdoor team (Raptors) and women's' outdoor team (Dactyls) to the area. Also enjoyed skiing, scuba diving, and traveling.

Visitation from 4pm until 7pm Thursday, January 2, 2014 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL. Visitation also on Friday, January 3, from 10am until 10:45am in Holy Family Church. Funeral Mass follows at 11am in Holy Family Church. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Rockford, IL.
