Donald "Don" G. Johnson

Donald “Don” G. Johnson, 91, Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in his home. He was born July 20, 1931, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of James and Grace (Koher) Johnson. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Red Arrow Club of Southern Wisconsin, 32nd Division-Brigade. Don married Ida Hoekman in Clinton, WI on August 8, 1952. He worked for Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. as a supervisor of machine installations. Don was a member of Our Master’s United Methodist Church and then Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was excellent at horseshoes and cornhole. He was also a very gifted and talented wood worker.

Survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ida; his son, Craig Johnson, Sr. of Rockford; his daughter, Donna (Bobby) Cash of Elburn; his grandchildren, Craig Johnson, Jr. Cody Johnson, and Marisa (Christopher) Motley; his great-granddaughter, Cora Motley; his sister, Connie Bayne and his brother, John Riley; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park with Military Honors. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
