Donald C. ""?Don Johnson, 71, of Rockford, passed away at 3:18 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Anam Care Center. Born June 3, 1936 in Marquette, MI; the son of Clarence and Margaret (Green) Johnson. He married Joan W. Schwanke in Rockford, on December 4, 1982. Don was owner and operator of Dahlgren Johnson Kitchen and Bath since October of 1955. He semi-retired in 1998 when he was diagnosed with Alzhemiers. In 1962, Don served 6 months in the National Guard as a cook. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church serving as an Elder, Trustee and Choir Member. Survivors include his wife, Joan; children, Dan (Teresa) Johnson,Rockford, and Chris (Janet) Johnson, Machesney Park; step-children, Jeff (Peggy) Schwanke, Ft. Atkinson,WI, Greg Schwanke, Davis Junction, Joni (Niels) Andersen, Lakeville, MN, Timothy (Cindy) Schwanke, Rockford; grandchildren, Kyle, Jay and Adam Johnson, Sarah Hauser, Sara (Chris) Mirabueno, Alisha Schwanke, Kristina (Mervin) Posey, Emily, Elise & Hannah Andersen, Jesse Dobbs, William Schwanke and Randy (Kelly) Blank; great-granddaughters, Kelly Rose Oswald, Mikaela Mirabueno and Lily Victoria Dobbs; brothers, Burt (Darlene) Johnson and Gary (Lorene) Johnson; several nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles; mother of his children, Judy (Jim) Zimmerman; special high school friends, John and Maryann Anderson, Ron and Ann Garceau and all of his special church friends. Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Anam Care Staff (especially Bernie & Vickie). We appreciate all your heartfelt dedication and support to Don and our family. We would also like to extend special thanks to Heartland Hospice (Brenda) for their support and care. Predeceased by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, (corner of 16th St. and 8th Ave.) with Reverend Robert H. Rub, Jr. officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, and also from 10-10:45am on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. To
