Donald B. Ewaldz

Donald B. Ewaldz, 88, of Rockford, passed away March 19, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 4, 1933, in Rockford, the son of Harold E. & Carolyn “Pat” (DeCamp) Ewaldz. He graduated from West High School, class of 1951. Donald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He earned his master’s degree from Rockford University. He married Carma J. Horsman in Rockford in 1958. They had their son Stephen. Carma had passed in 1972. Later he married M. Rosanne Saunders on March 17, 1973, in Rockford, Illinois.
Donald was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. He was an avid runner and enjoyed golf and tennis. He was a consultant at Ingersoll Engineers and a published author in numerous trade magazines. In addition, he was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing in various bands and orchestras.
Survivors include wife, Rosanne; son, Stephen (Priscilla) Ewaldz; brothers Jean F. (Mary) Ewaldz and J. Mike Ewaldz; sisters-in-law Kathy (Joe) Graciana and Jeanne (Jim (deceased)) King; brothers-in-law Mike (Audrey) Saunders, Steve (Leni) Saunders, John (Vicki) Saunders, Richard (JoAnn Saunders), and Mark (Libby) Saunders, numerous nieces and nephews, and special cousins from Sweden; Gunilla and Bo Eek, and Ingmar Ewaldz. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother David Ewaldz, and sister-in-law, Kay Ewaldz.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr, Rockford, IL 61109. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to PAWS Humane Society or Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary of Rockford in Donald’s name.
