Dolores “Dee” Anne Travis, 83, of Rockford, was granted her angel wings on Sunday, May 21, 2017; surrounded by her family. She was born in Davenport, Iowa; to parents, Carl and Josephine (Brink) Marzano, on April 23, 1934. Dee married her loving husband, Donald Edward Travis; on May 30, 1955; and were married for more than 40 years before Don’s passing on May 17, 1997. Don and Dee were members of Holy Family Catholic Church. Dee spent her life devoted to her family, especially to her grandkids. She was a very kind, generous, & loving person who had a great sense of humor & a memory like an elephant. Dee will be greatly missed and is now joined with her loved ones in Heaven. On Saturdays, whether it was going shopping, or a night out to Outback Steakhouse; she used to say it didn’t matter where she was, as long as it was with her family. Dee and her family called those days “Loser Saturdays”. She loved to play cards, but mainly the game SKIPBO and we nicknamed her the “SKIPBO Queen”. She was a proud supporter of Boys Town and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She will always be remembered as the cornerstone of her family, and the love and memories she shared will never be forgotten.
Dolores is survived by her children, Deborah Fabiano, David (Angela Knowlton) Travis, and Denise (Paul) Wixom; grandkids, Christopher Travis, Andrea (Maxwell) Zinnen, Michael Fabiano, Nicolas Travis, Devin Wixom, and Lindsey Wixom; brother, Richard (Brenda) Marzano; nephews, Richard (Debbie) Marzano and Sean (Shin-Yi) Marzano. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Donald Edward Travis in 1997; her In Laws, Alvin and Anita Rentschler; and her sister, Patricia Marzano.
To honor Dees’ wishes, there will be no funeral services. As Dee would say, “I don’t want anyone to fuss over me”.
