Dolores A. Graceffa, 86, of Loves Park, passed away August 24th, 2015 after a courageous twenty year battle with cancer.
Born May 8, 1929 in Rockford, the daughter of Lloyd and Lottie Eastman. Graduated from West High School class of 1947 and married her loving husband Ben Graceffa on June 4th 1949 at St. Peters Church. Dolores worked for Amerock for many years but her real job was at home raising her and Ben’s seven beautiful children. She enjoyed cooking for her family and serving Sunday meals, having lunch with her “card club”, and traveling to Las Vegas. Her true passion in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them dearly and would do everything she could to be with them. Dolores was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed terribly by all those that loved her. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Schulz and Dr. Sweet for all of their kind words and compassionate care. Also, a special thanks to special care givers Susan Habben, Phil Graceffa, Lauren Habben, and Justine Stewart.
Survivors include her husband Ben of Loves Park, children, Ben (Doris) of Rockford, Steven (Linda) of Roscoe, Daniel (Patricia) of Sugar Grove, Phil (Beth) of Rockford, Robert (Jo Marie) of Rockton, Jeffrey (Sherry) of Rockton, and Susan (Dan) Habben of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Nick (Michelle), Michelle (Jason), Lisa (Teddy), Julie (Garreck), Scott (Amy), Brian (Jackie), Kate (Mark), Philip (Nickole), Brent, Justine (Jason), Ryan (Renee), Alyssa (David), Colin, Conner, Lauren (Jonathan), and Jake; 22 great grandchildren with one on the way, also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Linda Story and Darlene Foss.
Funeral Mass Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at The Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, August 26 from 4- 7 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Visitation continues on Thursday at church from 9-9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. Express online condolences at: www.fitzgeraldfh.com
