Dianne L. Harrington

Dianne L. Harrington, 75, Loves Park, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 18, 1946, in Kewanee, the daughter of John and Ruth (Pierson) Hanley. She married Warren F. Harrington, Jr. in California on September 5, 1970. He passed away on November 14, 2014. Dianne was an active member of GPS Faith Community Church and a member of Ellida Lodge # 25. She was always a powerful advocate for the homeless. Dianne was instrumental in developing Shelter Care Ministries and was active with them for many years. She also worked alongside Rockford Housing Authority to establish homes for the less fortunate in the community. Dianne was involved in their monthly mobile food pantry and volunteered to provide Christmas parties for families in need within the community. Even as her physical capabilities diminished, she continued to help others in many ways. She enjoyed fishing, listening to music, visiting with friends in person and on the phone, but most of all Dianne loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survived by her son, Alan (Dorene Arment) Harrington and her daughter, Becky Harrington; her grandchildren, Cortazia (Julian) McReynolds, Cheyenne and Chase Harrington; her great grandchildren, Armani and Londyn McReynolds; and her brother Jim (Pat) Hanley. Predeceased by her parents; her husband Warren; her grandson, Elijah Harrington, her brother, Denny Hanley and her best friend, Debra Tate.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, at GPS Faith Community Church, 11189 Forest Hills Road, Machesney Park. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at GPS Faith Community Church, with Pastor Brandon Nelson officiating. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
