Diane (Snodgrass) Conklin, 80, Rockford, passed away peacefully Monday, February 6, 2023, at Lincolnshire Place surrounded by family and friends. She was born September 24, 1942, in Geneseo, the daughter of Clinton and Blanche (Pryce) Snodgrass. Diane was graduate of Geneseo High School, class of 1960. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and her master’s degree from National Louis University. At U of I she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority where she made lifelong friends and traveling companions. Diane taught Spanish and French at Guilford High School and later taught ESL at East High School and Lincoln Middle School until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Diane was a sustaining member and past president of Junior League of Rockford, an active member and past president of the ET Chapter of P.E.O. and an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma of Illinois. Diane enjoyed watching her sons play sports, traveling, taking long walks, dancing, attending the opera and the symphony, Starlight Theatre, and hosting holidays and dinner parties for her family and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Lincolnshire Place, especially Ron, for their patience and wonderful care and to Transitions Hospice for their compassionate care.
Survived by her son, Tim Conklin of DeKalb; her daughter-in-law, Sara Conklin of Rockford; her grandchildren, Makenzi, Maddie and Caden Conklin; her sisters-in-law, Linda Johnson of Belvidere and Mary Snodgrass of Hampton; her mother-in-law, Jeanie Conklin of Rockford, many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Bob Thorsen. Predeceased by her son, William “Bill” Conklin; her former husband, James Conklin; her brother, Dr. Richard Snodgrass and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Court Street United Methodist Church,215 N. Court St. with Reverend Calvin Culpepper officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford and again from 9:30 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 N.
