Diane M Killion

Diane M. Killion, 65 of Rockford, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 7, 2013 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born October 25, 1947 in Rockford the daughter of Roy and Freda (Haddad) Williams. Graduate of West High School class of 1965 and went on to attend Rock Valley College and then NIU where she received her Master's Degree in History. She had marched with the Phantom Regiment and liked to stay active with their activities. She was an HR director at Rockford Register Star from 1983-1999 and had joined them after working at Gunite. Diane's passion for helping impoverished people was evident. She was a member of the Ugly Quilters Club where they assembled sleeping bags for the homeless. She was always lending a helping hand and volunteered at the Carpenters Place in her free time. Her hobbies included being an avid reader and dedicated patron of the public library and she was outspoken and brave. She was a kind and caring person who never let you down, she will be missed greatly by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Nicole Killion, and Rachel Killion; brother, Jim Williams; numerous nieces and nephews; special family members, Susan Waskiewicz and Bradley Williams and dear friends, Cathy Ward, Marsha Wurtlin, M/M Angelo Lenzini and Rufus Friday. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Waskiewicz.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 20 from 1-3 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. in lieu of flowers memorials in her name to a charity of one's choice. Express online condolences at: www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
