Diane Emerson Krans

Diane Emerson Krans, 63, of Rockford, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died Monday, June 16th, 2008, at home surrounded by her loving family. She fought a long and courageous battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Diane was born April 21, 1945, the daughter of Charles and Corella Sanderson in Dekalb, IL. She enjoyed her childhood years growing up on the family farm and riding horseback with her father, which gave her great joy. Baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, IL. She graduated from Malta High School in 1963. Diane was involved with her class and developed life long friendships. Following High School, she graduated from Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. She began her nursing career in the operating room at R.M.H. Later she enjoyed several years as Nursing Care Coordinator of Outpatient Surgery at Swedish American Hospital. On May 4, 1995, she married David Krans in Keawalai Congregational Church in Makena, Maui. They enjoyed thirteen wonderful years together. In addition to the U.S.A., they enjoyed many trips abroad. Relaxing at their lakeside home in northern Wisconsin was additional quality time for them. She is survived by her husband, David Krans, M.D.; four daughters, Sara (Jerrad) Martin, of Las Vegas, NV, Lisa Emerson, of Belvidere, IL, Heather (Nathan)Waller, of Bettendorf, IA, and Melissa (Scott) Mortensen, of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Christopher, Katie, Sean and Isaac Woods, Makena, Garrett, and Olivia Martin, and Adeline and Reese Waller; step-children, Diane M. Kizewski and Stephan Krans; sister, Carole (Richard) Mueller, of Ohio, IL; nephews, Mark, Lance, and Brett Leslie; special canine friend, Sami. Predeceased by her parents and her daughter, Tonya Kay. Diane was so appreciative of the professional and competent care she received from Harvey Einhorn, M.D., Janet Gresenz, R.N., and the entire oncology clinical staff. Also, the nurses and staff on the seventh floor oncology unit at Swedish American Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Christ Lutheran Church, 425 Riverside Road, Belvidere, IL 61008, with Rev. Tim Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be held at 3:30pm in Union Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lee, Illinois.
