Devola L. Doll

Devola Lavon Doll, 91, Rockford, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, in her home. She was born June 6, 1926, in Dekalb, the daughter of Glen and Winnie (Shewmaker) Ryan. She married Henry W. Doll in Rockford on June 20, 1945. He passed away in Rockford on May 23, 2004. Devola worked at J. L. Clark for many years. She enjoyed travelling with her friends from the Golden Agers Center, her weekly trips to the Cherry Valley library, going to garage sales, and was an avid quilter. Devola collected many things including owls and Golden books. She was a big fan of Randy Travis and the highlight of her life was actually meeting him in person. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
Survived by her daughters, Devola “Dottie” Frazier of Essex, MO, Glenda (Michael) Vanzant and Brenda Loven, both of Rockford, her son, Henry “Dub” (Lisa) Doll of Rockford; her grandchildren, Dan (Gina) Frazier, Krista (Charlie) Rhoades, Kelly (Joe) Fuller, Kerry (Jim) Dawson, Kim (Jeff) Stadler, Sue (Bill) vanGelder, Jamie (Jenn) Loven, Crystal (Adam Eccles) Goble, Sarah Skinner and Zoe Doll; her great-grandchildren, Geoffrey, Carissa, Michael, Kyra, Zane, Zack, Ashley, Taner, Abbie, Nolan, Hayden, Sydney, Kai, Dustin, Kaylee, Kaleb, Keaton, Evan, Colin, and a great-great grandbaby due in December; 2 sisters, Barb Haile and Ilene Sanders; her brother, Karl (Wilda) Ryan; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Ryan, and her four legged family members, Charlie and Emma. Predeceased by her husband, Henry, her parents, and her grandson, Michael Frazier.
A time of sharing to celebrate Devola’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, August, 5, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M., until time of sharing.
