Delores Ellen Cervantes, 81
Rockford- Delores Ellen Cervantes, 81, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born September 30, 1934, in Freeport, IL the daughter of Irvin & Ruth (DeWall) Loring. She attended Freeport schools before moving to Rockford in 1951. She married Raphael Cervantes on May 26, 1952 and had three children. Delores would enlighten every establishment she was involved in, which included Jacks or Better, Saddle & Cycle, Ross’, and the University Club before becoming the manager of the lounge at Fairview Lanes. After retiring, she took a part-time position for 10 years with Rockford Health Systems. She was a member of the Blackhawk Athletic Club. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, enjoying frequent trips to Wrigley Field and spring training in Mesa, Az. She enjoyed traveling, her friends, shopping, cooking, but nothing delighted her more than the time spent with all of her family, especially during the holidays.
Survivors include children, Diane (Patrick) Cooling, Riccardo (Tonetta) Cervantes, and Marcia (Abel) Villarreal; grandchildren Joseph (Michelle) Campos, DeeAnna Villarreal, Ramon Villarreal, Rian Cervantes, and Isabel Cooling; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Noah and Nole Campos, Carlo Turbyville, Ruby and Elise Villarreal; siblings Audrey Meile, Barb Shenberger, John Loring and Jim Loring, and many nieces and nephews; dear friend and sister in law Teresa Ritenour and brother in law Tom Cervantes. Predeceased by parents, brothers Don, Norman, and Irvin Loring; sisters Patty Loring, Betty Newman, and infant twin sister Dorothy; husband and best friend Ralph Cervantes.
Visitation from 5 – 7 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103.
