David J. Mullins

David J. Mullins, 80, passed away in his home in Winnebago, Illinois on August 1, 2023. Born in Rochelle, Illinois on June 23, 1943, son to Everett and Doris (Garritson) Mullins. He later joined the U.S. Army from 1962 thru 1965 and spent time in London and France. Once returning to the United States, he married Barbara Merriott in 1967 and they had two sons Chris and Greg. They enjoyed many trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains over the years. David also enjoyed going into Winnebago to meet with friends, watching the Chicago Bulls, seeing Michael Jordan in action, and Corvettes; David was known by his family to use the Corvette to go out and dry his hair. Later in life David discovered his next greatest love, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He looked forward to the regular updates from his grandchildren about their lives and the great grandchildren.

He will be survived by those who loved him most, his wife Barbara; his Sons David Christopher (Angie) Mullins and Gregory James (Joe Berean) Mullins; grandchildren Sierra (Edwin) Armstrong, Addison (Justyn) Gerber and Tyler Carrion; great grandchildren Braelyn and Charlotte Armstrong; siblings Melanie Mullins and Larry (Jorja) Mullins; numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents. A very special thank you to Mercyhealth Hospice nurse Alicia for all the care and compassion she showed to David and his family, he adored her and her help.
