David J. Guarino

David J. Guarino, 64, of Rockford, passed away on April 22, 2023, at Javon Bea Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1958, in Monterey, California, the son of Sam and Geraldine (Salamone) Guarino. He graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s in biology/chemistry. He served in the U.S. Navy as an officer for 8 years. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed good food.

He is survived by his longtime partner Gordana “Gigi” Topic; brothers, James and Joseph (Charlene) Guarino; niece, Samantha Guarino; Uncles, Jay (Anita) Guarino and Nick Guarino; Aunts, Angelina Falkowski, Jo Guarino, and Lil Joy; and cousins, Cheryl (Scott), Diane, Michelle (Harold), and Patty (Rich) and several others. He is predeceased by his parents and aunts, Rose (Dick) Sanner and Phyllis (Philip) Salamone.

A Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 am. Entombment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Guarino Family.
