David “Dave” L. Kloepfer, 70, Rockford, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born November 30, 1953, in Chicago, the son of William and June (Cascio) Kloepfer. Dave married Marilyn Kuhn in Sycamore on July 17, 1976. He worked as a sales representative for travelers checks and computer software. Dave attended Holy Family Catholic Church for many years. He was an avid hockey player far into his adult life and was a member of the Old Timer’s Hockey League from 1975 to 1999. In 2013, he went on a dinosaur dig in Hell Creek, MT which was sponsored by the Burpee Museum in Rockford. His passion was golf and he participated in Aldeen Men’s Golf Association where he served on the board for the past 24 years. He also played in a Tuesday morning golf group.
Survived by his wife, Marilyn; his mother, June Kloepfer Hinz; his sisters, Sue (Kevin) Orde, Vicki Sessum and Liz (John) Maves; his sister-in-law, Lonnie (Ray) Beets; his brothers-in-law, Dick (Sharon) Kuhn and Jack (Bev) Kuhn; his sisters-in-law, Mary Kuhn and Carol (Tom Klene) Wollenberg; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Bill Kloepfer; his brother, Tom Kloepfer; his father-in-law and mother-in law, John and Angeline Kuhn; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Peg Kuhn and his special brother-in-law, Gary Kuhn. Special thanks to the Six Pack for their love and support in Dave’s final hours.
Memorial services will be held at 5:30 P.M. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford with Reverend Phillip Kaim officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rockford Park District Foundation youth golf program, Mayo Clinic for cardiac research or the Burpee Museum of Natural History.
