David Charles Marinaro, 68, of Rockford passed away peacefully at Rockford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. He was born on November 4, 1948 in Rockford, the son of Charles and Ruth (Ramsby) Marinaro. He graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School, Class of 1966. Dave worked as an engineer for many years, serving companies Ingersoll Cutting Tool Company, Fabricated Steel Products, and Lamb Assembly. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and had a strong passion for the sport of dirt track racing. Dave had an excellent sense of humor, always making those around him laugh, and the most contagious smile. Above all else, he was a wonderful father, proud grandpa, loving brother and friend.
He is survived by his children, Alan Marinaro and Angela (Bob) Wittmann; his grandchildren, Payton, Cayden, and Kenley Wittmann; his siblings, James (Georgia) Marinaro and Janice (Tom) Powers; the mother of his children, Mary; his brother-in-law, Dennis Quayle; his nieces and nephews, Dana (Gary) Marinaro, Carmen (Kurt) Nondorf, Gina (Mark) Midthun, Matt (Carrie) Marinaro, Lisa Quayle, Elizabeth Quayle, Michael Quayle; and many cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents, sister, Judith, and nephew, Michael Powers.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel. A visitation will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and will continue Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
