David Beard

David Beard, 67, of Rockford, Illinois, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born in Peoria, IL on February 12, 1946, the son of the late Claude and Frances Beard of Chidester, Arkansas. David graduated from Manual High School in Peoria, where he excelled in football and track. He continued his education and football career at Merritt College in Oakland, CA, earning a scholarship to attend New Mexico State University, Albuquerque, NM and graduated with his Bachelor's of Science Degree.
David leaves to cherish many fond memories, his loving wife, Mildred, sons, Michael Beard of Albuquerque, NM , Louis Hopson and daughter, Sarah Beard of Rockford; grandchildren, Milah Hopson, Luis and Mason Valentin; his siblings, Charity (Harry) Sephus of Colorado Springs, CO, Janice Beard of Oakland CA, Rose Mary Beard of Los Angeles, CA and James Beard of Chicago, IL; aunt, Darlene Reed of Hot Springs, AR; In-laws, Naola (Horace)Box, Ellen (Donny) Williams, Sharon (Xavier)Hoover, Donna & Nellie Hopson, Roosevelt (Joyce), James (Irene), Jearld (Jeanette), Lydell (Cynthia), Quintin (Sandra) Hopson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents and siblings; Iberville, Clyde,George, Gerald, Danny Beard and Vearline Cloman.
The family would like to thank Dr. DeGuzman and staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Davita Dialysis Center and his PD nurse Precious Bowden for their compassionate care.
Memorial Service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. To extend condolences visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com
