Darlene A. Fry

Darlene A. Fry, 83, Rockton, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born May 13, 1934, in Lake City, MN, the daughter of George and Alice (Dunbar) Jones. She married Lester Fry, Jr. on June 20, 1959, in Rockford. Darlene worked as a stenographer for Greenlee Co. and later as a bookkeeper for B & H Office Supply but her most important role was as a wife and mother. Darlene enjoyed a full, enriched life by supporting all of her grandchildren at their sporting events. She was on several bowling leagues for many years and enjoyed roller skating, racquetball, and cross country skiing. Her passions in life included spending time with her family, creating memories and family traditions such as the annual Christmas cookie bake. Darlene enjoyed crafting and she was a great seamstress who created handmade clothing for her children and grandchildren. She touched so many lives and will be missed dearly.
Survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Lester; her son, Bradley Fry of Roscoe; her daughter, Lynnette (fiancé, Brian Wandell) Nyren of Rockton; her grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Nyren, and Rachel and Michael Fry; her sister, Kathleen Jones of Lake Forest, CA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
