Daniel W. Metzler

Daniel Wade Metzler, age 61, passed away at home on Monday, January 22, 2024, after a long illness.

Dan was born in Palatine, IL, on June 13, 1962, the son of David Metzler and Susan Sigwart. After graduating, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in wildlife game bird management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Dan worked in the receiving department for SPX FLOW Hydraulic Technologies in Rockford for 19 years.

Dan loved fishing, especially the annual fishing trips with his uncle and cousins to various lakes in the Wisconsin Northwoods. He also enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Bears every chance he got. Most of all, Dan cherished his time spent with family and loved ones. He will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor Dan’s memory include his wife, Sonja Demler; stepson, John (Charlotte) Demler; grandchildren, Caius and Raena; sister, Anita (Randy) Timm; nieces, Erica and Sarah; nephew, Michael and special family members, Brooke and granddaughter, Brylee. He is predeceased by his parents.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103.
