Daniel Titus Murphy

Daniel Titus Murphy of Rockton passed away Tuesday November 16, 2010 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born May 14, 1926 in Pawtucket, RI, the son of Daniel and Ella Murphy. He married Lee Herron on Christmas Eve; they were married for 49 years. He went on to serve in the Merchant Marines in WWII. Daniel was a longtime employee of Sunstrand Aviation, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and working around his 15 acres in Rockton. He graduated from Brown University, Boston University. He received his Master's degree at age 82, he was the oldest person in the history of Boston University to be conferred a Master's degree. Survivors include his four sons; Daniel Paul Murphy, Douglas Murphy, Matthew Murphy and David Murphy. Eight grandchildren; Daniel James, Christina, Kevin, Hannah, Hayden, Grace, Alex and Zane.Services will be Saturday November 20, 2010 at 2:30pm in Fitzgerald Funeral Home Riverside Chapel. Burial in Rockton Cemetery. Visitation from 1:30pm until time of service, Saturday in the Chapel.
