Daniel Edward Cooney, 18, a loving son, grandson, nephew and cousin, died Saturday, August 20, 2011.Born February 20, 1993 in Rockford, son of Charley and Ninette Basile Cooney.Graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School. Member of theCathedral of St. Peter.He was a long time active member of Boy Scout Troop No.123 where he had proudly achieved the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout.He loved all components of scouting anddue to his love for the outdoors, camping became a very important aspect.Dan was a gentle, sweet spirited, precious child.He was a handsome young man with a truly genuine soul.Survivors include his mother, Ninette Cooney; grandmother, Albena Basile; aunts and uncles, Margaret Cooney, Joanne (David) Gribbins, Theresa (Steve) Powell and Sam (Louise) Basile; cousins, Allison (Tony) DeFranze, Kate Gribbins, Melissa (Steven) Boggess, Christopher (Amanda) Powell, Sarah Fitzgerald, David Powell, Emily Basile and Patricia Basile as well as loving greataunts and greatuncles, cousins and other family members.Predeceased by his father, Charley Cooney, paternal grandparents, Charles and Florence Cooney and maternal grandfather, Sam Basile, Sr.Funeral Mass at noon on Friday, August 26, 2011 in the Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. Jeremy Trowbridge officiating.Private family burial.Visitation from 11 a.m. until time of the Mass.
