Daniel "Dan" Charles Nihan

Daniel “Dan” Charles Nihan, 78, Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born on March 6, 1945, in Belvidere, IL, the son of Charles and Sophronia (Cashmore) Nihan. He graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1963 and was a veteran, having served in the Army. Dan really enjoyed the sport of golfing. He loved to spend his time riding his motorcycle, fishing, and bowling with his friend Dick. He taught aviation ground school through Rock Valley College for 30 years and flew planes for 40 years. Dan was known to be an avid Bears fan.

Dan is survived by his daughters, Kim (Randall) Weisser of Rockford, Karen (Ron) Carlson of Belvidere, and Kathy (Scott) Dickson of Fort Atkinson; his grandchildren, Emilie Weisser and Jaxson Weisser, Ronald (Lindsay) Carlson, Ryan Carlson, Alexandrea (Ambrose) Charrier, Ian (Sami) Carlson, Reid (Kenzy) Carlson, Zavery (Ashley) Dickson, and Kyzer Dickson; his great grandchildren, Peighton Carlson, Wyatt Carlson, Kinsley Carlson, Josephine Carlson, Bowen Carlson and Uriah Dickson; his lifelong partner, Karen Beksel; her children, Lori, Marcia, Debbie, Marcus, and Brenda; her grandchild, Brittany; and her great grandchildren Ava and Ivan; his sister, Nancy Foreman; his brother, Charlie (Trish) Nihan; and his brother-in-law, Steven Leonard. He is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Katy Leonard; and his brother-in-law, Josh Foreman.
