Danny R. "Dan" Schafman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2024, just two days shy of his 80th birthday. Born on December 5, 1944, in Rockford, Illinois, Dan was a vibrant spirit whose life touched the hearts of many.

Dan was the cherished son of Clarence and Esther (Behling) Schafman. He grew up surrounded by love and the lessons of hard work, which would guide him throughout his life.

He graduated from West High School in 1962, where he made lifelong friends and memories. Shortly after high school, Dan proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, receiving an honorable discharge.

On March 28, 1967, Dan married the love of his life, Nancy Stoelting, in Rockton. Their union was filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they raised their daughter, Dana (Kevin) Weber, and welcomed their granddaughter, Kailee Weber (Elliott Huske), who brought immense joy into their lives. Dan was not only a father but a guiding light and mentor to his family, instilling values of kindness, hard work, and resilience.

Dan dedicated 30+ years to Woodward Governor Company, retiring in 2000 as a purchasing manager. He was known for his professionalism and integrity.

Outside of his professional life, Dan was an avid hunter, often spending weekends in pursuit of his passion for the outdoors. For several years, Dan and Nancy enjoyed their time as snowbirds in Gulf Shores, Alabama, creating cherished memories with new friends.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Dana; granddaughter, Kailee; sisters-in-law, Esther Schafman and Peggy Hensley; and many nieces and nephews who adored him. Predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Clarence, Richard (Cora), Roger (Beverly) Schafman and an infant sister.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share stories and honor the remarkable man that he was. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, an organization that was close to Dan's heart. Dan's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his kindness and humor will be greatly missed.
