Dan Cong Nguyen

Dan Cong Nguyen, 65, of Rockford, Died, in Swedish American Hospital on April 29, 2011, surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 27, 1945 to his mother Qui Thi Nguyen in Bienhoa Dong Nai, South Vietnam. Dan served his country as a military policeman in South Vietnam from 1965 to 1975. Dan relocated to Rockford from South Vietnam and lived here for 21 years. He worked for Anderson Packaging where he retired in 2008. He is survived by his loving wife, Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai, Sister Suzie Thi Nguyen, Sister Rose Bucalobuss, brother Dung Van Dao and 25 sons, daughters, in-laws and grand children. Dan was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had the nicest smile, caring heart, and was the life of the party. Dan loved spending time with his family and friends and loved playing with grand children. That was his joy. He will be missed by everyone who knew his kind and caring ways.A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 7, 2011 at 11am in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. Visitation will be from 5pm until 9pm on Friday May 6, 2011 in the funeral home. Memorial may be to the family of Dan Cong Nguyen.
