Dale Runberg was born on September 19, 1938 to Knute and Frances Runberg. He passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 15, 2022, surrounded by his family. Dale married the love of his life, Delores Scheffers on November 23, 1956. They were married for 65 years at their last anniversary and he said that still wasn’t long enough.
Dale was sustained by a strong faith built on a firm foundation established as a young boy at the Salvation Army. He retired at the age of 72 after a long career as a self-employed tool & die maker. He and Delores danced their way through life attending polka fests across the country.
Dale is survived by wife Delores, son Jeffrey (Annette), daughters Brenda (Charly) Manning and Roberta (Andy) Korntved, son-in-law Ken Warner Sr., sister Carolyn (John) Almond, grandchildren Taysha (Matt) Hollenbeck, Ken (Tracey) Warner, Josh (Cynthia) Runberg, Chelsey (Jim) Lewis, Emily Rux, Cassie and Lucas Korntved, Michael, Haddie and Lilly Manning, several great & great-great grandchildren, and many other special people.
Predeceased by his parents, daughter Marcia Warner, grandson Austin Rux, and brother Richard Runberg.
Visitation from 5-7 PM on Thursday, August 18 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Avenue. Funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, August 19 at Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corp., 500 S. Rockford Avenue. Memorials to Salvation Army Rockford Temple Band.
