Cynthia Ann Knauer

December 31, 1973 — June 26, 2024

Rockford

Cindy Knauer was born December 31,1973 and she died after a courageous fight at OSF St. Anthony Hospital on June 26, 2024.

Cindy loved her family, her church, her job, she just really loved life so much. She had a beautiful, vivacious personality which everyone loved.

Cindy always wanted to move out on her own but felt it would be too expensive. A couple months ago she said to me "Mom, I don't think I'm suppose to move out because we need each other".

Cindy served faithfully at The Refuge Church in Loves Park, IL for 20 years. During that time she served in a variety of roles including Assistant Pastor, Youth Group Leader, and Worship Leader. Cindy was used by God to touch lives, encourage those who were hurting, and to model a Christ-like life that others could imitate. Cindy could sing like an angel and had a smile that could bring joy to all those who walked in the church doors. She will be greatly missed by her church family.

Cindy loved working at Rosecrance. Starting 18+ years ago at Janet Wattles and then when they merged with Rosecrance. She loved working with all her coworkers and she especially enjoyed when she was able to make an impact on a client’s life. At work she was always smiling and positive. Cindy will be missed greatly by those who loved her the most, her mom, Chris Knauer and her sister Nicky (Tom) Danielson. Predeceased by her dad, Ron Knauer, her grandparents Fred and Mary Jane Johnson, great-grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

We wish to thank the many nurses in CCU at OSF for their exceptional care of Cindy, also the many doctors, especially Dr. George Jacob, Pulmonary physician, who did absolutely everything possible for Cindy. Thank you also to Msgr. Gerald Kobbeman, Fr. Pierre Polycarpe, Pastor Andrew Hall, Pastor Jane Bradford and Pastor Caleb Hong for all their support, concern and prayers.

A private funeral service will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home with burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy's name may be made to Rosecrance 1021 N. Mulford Rd. Rockford, Il 61107 or Barn on Baseline Animal Shelter/Adoption 16173 Base Line Rd. Genoa, IL 60135
