Cynthia Ann Cindy Harlan, 56, of Rockford, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at SwedishAmerican Hospital after a brief, yet courageous battle with breast cancer. Born Aug. 20, 1953 in Rockford, daughter of Edward Glen and Agnes (Kurkerewicz) Newell. Graduate of Auburn High School. Cindy was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and a season ticket holder for the Rockford Ice Hogs. When she wasnt in the stands cheering on the Ice Hogs, she took time to enjoy quilting, crocheting, gardening and Thomas Kinkade art work. Cindy truly loved spending time and being with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister and will be missed greatly. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the 7 th floor nursing staff at Swedish American Hospital and Dr. John Plescia for the extra care and attention they provided our mother. Survivors include her children, Candice (Nick Schneider) Harlan of Rockford, Theresa (Scott) Monson of Rockton, Tim Harlan of Rockford and Lara (Fianca(c) William Kitchen) Harlan of Rockford; grandchildren, Corbyn, Cassie, Marie, Noah and Matthew; brothers, Edward (Jill) Newell of Loves Park, Jim (Pat) Newell of Rockford and John (DeAnne) Newell of Belvidere; former husband, Dean Harlan and her faithful K9 companion, Molly. Preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Danielle Harlan and sister, Susan Harlan.
Funeral Mass Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 2400 Bell Ave. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 5:00 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a rosary service at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to: Susan G.
