Corazon A. Almazan

Corazon A. Almazan, 81, Rockford, IL, passed away on January 23, 2022. She was born on November 15, 1941 in the Philippines, the daughter of Genero and Escolita Amante.

Corazon married Agustin Almazan on June 28, 1971 in Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines and they came to the United States in 1973. She had a strong Catholic faith as a long-time member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church who volunteered for several different church groups. Corazon loved to cook, enjoyed gardening and cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Corazon is survived by her husband of 51 years, Agustin; children, Christina (Jack) Washington and Geraldo Almazan; grandchildren, Trae (Renee) Brown, Alec Brown and Aaron Brown; great-grandchildren, Cora, Jakob and Cole and sister Nenette Alberto. Preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Nita and Alma.

Funeral Service at Fitzgerald Funeral Home Riverside Chapel, 3910 N Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103 on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Corazon’s name to St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Masks are required for any events attended. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family.
