Constance M. O’Hara Ullrich, 97

Constance M. O’Hara Ullrich, age 97, of Rockford, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at her home in Rockford, Illinois. Born February 1, 1918 in Janesville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Patrick & Mary Anne (Reagan) O’Hara. Connie graduated from Janesville High School and attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse.. During her career as a nurse she worked in pediatrics at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, at what is now Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, and at the first Blood Bank in the US at Cook County Hospital, . Connie married Dr. Fredric William Ullrich on June 20, 1942, who preceded her in death in May 1991. Connie was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Winnebago County Medical Auxiliary, and Bel-Mar Country Club. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie was an avid golfer, reader and bridge player. She was keenly interested in politics and valued education. Connie gave of her time and talents to all who needed her and was loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include daughters Constance (Robert) Browne of Glenview, Illinois; MaryAnn (Michael) Abate of Roscoe, Illinois; sons Fred (Judith) Ullrich of Phoenix, Arizona and Michael (Maureen) Ullrich of Elm Grove, Wisconsin; grandchildren Robert Browne, Jr.(Suzanne) of Chicago, Illinois, Maureen (Matthew) Schoaf of Golf, Illinois, Megan (Christian) Halscheid of Glenview, Illinois, Elizabeth (Greg) Mascolo of Lausanne, Switzerland; Michael (Colleen) Abate of Louisville, Kentucky, Ted Ullrich and Emily Ullrich of New York, New York; Amy Ullrich of Shorewood, Wisconsin and Andrew Ullrich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 13 great grandchildren, her sister Kathleen Schonhoff of San Antonio, Texas; and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Josephine Ruiz and Elizabeth Baehr and her brother Msgr. Robert O’Hara.

Funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Holy Family Church.
