Constance "Connie" Mikkelson

Constance “Connie” Mikkelson, 89, Rockford, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Crimson Point. She was born November 27, 1928, in Rockford, the daughter of Sherman and Florence (Alberts) Levey. She was a graduate of Harlem High School. Connie married Leonard Mikkelson in Rockford on April 29, 1950. He passed away on September 18, 2008. She worked as a teacher’s aide and then in the school cafeteria for many years until her retirement. Connie was a life member of Broadway Covenant Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in women’s ministries and church circles.
Survived by her daughter, Colleen (Gene) Felts of Rockford; her son, Craig Mikkelson of Macomb, MI; her granddaughters, Erin (Tim) Clark and Kari (Tyler) Whitney; her great grandchildren, Eve Clark and Colton and Teague Whitney; her sister-in-law, Elaine Levey of FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Leonard and her brothers, Donald and Gale Levey.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Broadway Covenant Church, 3525 Broadway, Rockford, 61108 with Reverend Michael Mirakian officiating. Private family burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or to Mercyhealth at Home, 4223 E. State St. Rockford, 61108 in her name.
