Cono J. LaLoggia, 91, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born August 4, 1922 in Calumet City, to Michele and Vincenza (Shurba) LaLoggia. Cono graduated from Thorton Fractional Township High School Calumet City IL. and was in the Signal Corp during WWII serving in the Pacific on Iwo Jima. He was married at St Anthony Church on April 29, 1950 to Theresa Parlapiano.
Cono, self-employed from 1947-1984, made a living as a Barber but retired into his first love, Playing Music. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, the Senior Holy Name Society, The Knights of Columbus, Forest City Chorus, the Musicians Union, Chicago Accordian Club, and VFW. Cono, whose slogan was "Music Remembered", was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th annual RAMI (Rockford Area Music Industry) on April 12, 2007, and was chosen the Ethnic Heritage Museums "Italian Father" of the year in 2011.
Survivors include his wife Theresa and four children, Michael LaLoggia, Jeanine LaLoggia, Lilyann (Steven) Marx, and Ross (Heidi) LaLoggia, all who reside in Rockford. Grandchildren: Sarah (Todd) Schneider of Mill Valley, CA, Stacey Marx of Chicago, Michael R. (Kayla) LaLoggia of Rockford, Anthony (Amy) Marx of Nashville, TN, Steven M. (Amanda Underwood) LaLoggia of Rockford, Marc (Savanna Vaughn) LaLoggia of AZ, and Matthew A. LaLoggia of Rockford. Great grandchildren: Harrison, Ayreon, Liam, Natalie and Madison. Brother: Salvatore (Judy) LaLoggia, Sister-in-law: Geanie LaLoggia Caywood, Brother-in-laws: Joseph Parlapiano, Paul Cerniglia, and many more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his parents, great granddaughter Arabella, brothers Angelo and Vincent, and sisters Rosalie Armato and Maria Cavallaro.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00pm Monday, December 23, 2013, at St. Anthony of Padua Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church prior to the service from 10:00am until 11:45am on Monday, December 23, 2013.
