Concetta Furiani

Concetta “Connie” Furiani, 92, of Rockford, passed away on September 16, 2024. She was born on March 9, 1932, in Italy, the daughter of Raffaele and Petronilla (Scarafoni) Alessandrini. She married Renato Furiani in February of 1955, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1997. She was devoted to her faith, a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and prayed to St. Anthony every day. She was a talented cook and was known for her tortellini, lasagna, green pasta, gnocchi, and sfrappe. She was an amazing seamstress. Connie was a funny, strong, innovative, loving, small but mighty fierce woman with a contagious personality. She loved her family and will forever be remembered as a loving mom, nonna, and nonnina.

She is survived by her children, Maddalena (Massimo), Monica, Nilla (Jaime), Gina (Juanito); grandchildren, Moreno (Alice), Alessio (Roberta), Amanda, Isabella, Fabian (Eli), Alishah (Marco “Michael”), Gabriele, Maria Concetta (George), and Adriano (Dan); great grandchildren, Olivia, Leo, Aiden, Venessa, Giovanni, and Oliver; and special friends, Amelia, Vincenzio, and Gina C. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Renato; and 10 brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, Illinois 61102. A night before visitation will be on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue Rockford, Illinois 61103.
