Clyde (Flip) Harris, Jr., 81, formerly of Rockford, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, after a long illness. Born July 15, 1927, in Beloit, WI. The son of Clyde, Sr. and Ruth (Jordan) Harris. Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving the U.S. Navy as a Private Second Class. He was a printer and lithographer at Wilson Hall and retired after 35 years from Thrift Remsen in Rockford. He also was a self-employed tax preparer often volunteering his services at Ken-Rock Community Center. Also spending his time as a RSVP senior. Being a generous blood donor made him a member of the Gallon Club at NIBB. He enjoyed distance swimming and was a member of the 1000 Mile Club at the YMCA. He is survived by former wife, Mary Frances (Pollare) of Rockford; children, Cynthia (Michael) OBrien of Rockton, Susan Noble of Chicago, Stephanie (Steven) Bauling of Rockford, Daniel (Deborah) Harris of Roscoe and Mary (John) Jaminski of Chicago; grandchildren, Mathew, Bryn, Paige, Alexander, Anthony, Samantha, Emma, Amanda, Margaret and Jack; several nieces and nephews and former wife, Joan Luckey (Sellers). Predeceased by parents and sisters Jean Smith and Mary Alta Zier. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery, 2200 Milwaukee Rd., Beloit, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be set in his name at the Navy Club of Rockford and Illinois Veterans Homes in Quincy and LaSalle.
