Clifford W. Rivers, 72, of Rockford passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 9, 2013. He was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on October 28, 1941, the son of Arthur and Viola (Haggerty) Rivers. Cliff graduated from Milton High School class of 1959. He proudly served his country as United States Marine from 1960-1964. Cliff married Monica King in 1967. He worked as an assembler for General Motors in Janesville, Wisconsin for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2003. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan; he enjoyed playing cards and helped coach baseball for the Rockford Area Boys Club. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church where he served as an usher.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Monica; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; sisters-in-law, Colette Axelson, Betty (Carl) Try, JoAnn King and Jeanne King; several nieces and nephews; special companion, his dog, Miss Penny. Predeceased by his parents; brothers-in-law, Jack King , Jim King and Harold Axelson. The family would like to thank Fernando (Wendy) Esparza and family for their assistance during this difficult time.
Funeral Mass at 10:30 am on Friday, December 13, 2013 at St.Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave. Loves Park. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at Church. Memorial donations may be made to Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 S. Main St. 61102.
