Clifford C. Dahl, 81, of Rockford, died April 10, 2013 at home. Born July 22, 1931, in Hartford, CT, the son of Magnus and Hilda (Johnson) Dahl. He attended Luther College (Wahoo, NE) where he met his bride, Carol Goldberg. Cliff served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict as a radioman aboard the USS Yorktown. He received his bachelor's degree from Northwest Missouri State and did his Masters studies at Colorado State University.
Cliff was employed in Rockford in the areas of education, engineering, sales, wood refinishing and home design. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Churches where he was involved in the choir, education, coaching, youth director and scout master.
Cliff loved fishing, camping, running, singing, painting, furniture woodworking, and duck carving, but most of all, loved the company of friends and family.
He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Roy and Wally, and son Michael. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol, sisters Rhoda Karrer, Kirsten Dahl-Collins, brother Miles, daughter-in-law Jane of Loves Park, son David (Ruth) of Shawnee, KS, daughter LeAnn (Rolf) Kundert of Chicago, grandchildren Ian, Nicole, Christian, and Andreas, numerous nieces and nephews, and Misty and Faro, his granddogs.
The family wishes to thank In-Touch Services and the VNA Hospice for their loving care of Cliff.
Memorial service Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Rd. at 1:30pm with Pastor Janet Wold officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service at 12:30pm. Reception and fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to VNA Hospice, In-Touch Services, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
